Use Your Static Site To Boost Twitter Engagement
Give your readers a specific tweet to engage with you – and other replies -about the content they’ve just read.
Adding comments to a static site is often not worth the effort
You have to add a comments widget.
Even when you’ve added it, you might not get any comments.
And just because one person commented, if no-one else does, that person won’t comment again, because why bother if no-one engages?
But with Twitter, things are different.
Twitter includes the social components of liking and sharing. It’s inherently viral. It’s designed to be interactive.
So instead of using comments that appear only on your site, let ReplyByTweet help you benefit from the SEO aspects of your static site, and the social engagement of Twitter.
The old way of doing things
You Publish Your Content
You spend hours writing content aimed at your target audience.
Your Share Via A Tweet
You log onto twitter to share the URL.
You Cross Your Fingers
Hopefully, people who read the article see the Twitter logo in your site header or footer.
Hopefully, they click it and land on your profile.
Hopefully, they read the tweet where you shared the content, and engage with you about it.
Of course, if they find your site via the search engines, 3 months later, there’s no way they’ll find the specific tweet.
The new way of doing things
01 Add the widget
You add the widget code to your static site, and re-publish it.
Just once.
02 Write your content
Write your content in the usual way, and grab its URL.
03 Write your tweet
Now your content is online, it’s time to share it via a tweet. Just copy the content URL, and write your tweet, as usual.
04 Add the tweet to ReplyByTweet
Now the clever bit.
Get the URL for that specific tweet, and save it in the ReplyByTweet admin panel.
Then when someone reads your content, they’ll see a link back to the specific tweet about the specific piece of content they’re reading right now.
You don’t even need to republish your site.
How great is that?
FAQs
Can I run this on multiple sites or Twitter accounts?
Yes. At the moment, the service is free. Once I move to a paid plan, you’ll retain the unlimited usage if you’re an existing user.
Do you need access to my Twitter account?
No. Only the URL of each tweet is needed, and you can copy/paste that into the admin panel. At no point are you required to log on to twitter to use ReplyByTweet.
Can this only be used for Twitter
No actually, I realised after creating the service that ReplyByTweet just uses the twitter URL, and it could be replaced by any URL on any social media or other platform.
